We believe in giving back to the community in which we live, work and play. That’s why we support the Salvation Army and the Shirley Rugby Football Club.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is no ordinary army. Since 1883, the Salvation Army has fought poverty, social and spiritual distress in New Zealand by caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society.

The Salvation Army work with people who have nothing by trying to bring real change in their lives and giving hope to those who have none. Through a nation-wide network of community and family service centres, addiction recovery programmes, employment training, aged care services, children and youth activities, supportive accommodation, chaplaincy, and disaster relief, helps those who have fallen through society's cracks and seeks to prevent people falling.

We commend the Salvation Army on the work they do and the difference they make to so many people’s lives, every single day.

Shirley Rugby Football Club

Shirley Rugby Football Club is the "friendly club - eastside" and as proud members of the club, we know that Shirley is all about the enjoyment of playing, supporting, coaching and being involved with the game of rugby.

Shirley RFC began life as Technical College Old Boys Rugby Club in 1917 and was admitted to Senior status in 1927. Since then Shirley has enjoyed periods of success in the Christchurch Club Senior Rugby competition winning in 1946 and 1949 and winning the senior title no less than 4 times during 1986 to 1993.

In 2003, the club sold its North Avon Road clubrooms and joined forces with East Christchurch Shirley Cricket Club to redevelop a jointly occupied sports club facility at Burwood Park, which was completed in 2005.
